Why Discipleship Foundation?

At Discipleship Foundation, we carry a a heartfelt longing to walk alongside others in their journey toward health, wholeness, and deeper life in Christ. Our longing is to see believers experience the kind of life Jesus invites us into—where the fruit of the Spirit is not just a distant ideal, but a daily reality. A life marked by peace, shaped by love, and lived with kindness, gentleness, and faithfulness.

We recognise that, too often, the church has leaned into ritual over relationship, and programmes over presence—leaving little space for true spiritual transformation or honest engagement with emotional and mental wellbeing. As a result, many have lacked the practical tools needed to step into the kind of renewal God promises in passages like Matthew 11:28–30, Romans 12:1–2, Psalm 23, and Isaiah 61:1–3.

Our vision is to offer a gentle, grace-filled approach to discipleship—one that ministers to the whole person: head, heart, and hands. We want to help people not only ask the deeper questions of faith, but also discover practical, biblically grounded ways to live out the answers. Through spiritual formation, therapeutic insight, and sound theology, we hope to cultivate a life-giving relationship with God that transforms how we live, love, and serve.

This is the heartbeat of Discipleship Foundation, and we’re honoured to journey with you.

A bit about the founder.

Leston Blackburn has served in pastoral ministry for many years, both in South Africa and the United Kingdom. With a doctorate in pastoral studies and postgraduate training in counselling and psychotherapy, he is a fully accredited Cognitive Behavioural Therapist.

His journey has been shaped by a deep desire to walk alongside others in both faith and emotional wellbeing. Drawing from what he’s learned—and continues to learn—Leston now feels called to help others explore a practical, grace-filled model of biblical discipleship. This approach weaves together spiritual formation, therapeutic insight, and sound theology to support whole-person growth, while encouraging each individual to discover and develop their unique calling in Christ
